The Artistic Journey of a Graphic Designer | Filmmaker

Since I was 9 years old, I have known what I wanted from my life. It all started with a profound moment of cinematic magic - "Back to the Future." The behind-the-scenes commentary by visionaries like Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis ignited a passion for filmmaking, setting the course for an artistic journey that continues to shape my life each day.

Throughout my childhood, our HD camcorder found its way into my hands at every possible moment. From cheesy renditions of popular MTV shows to short movies that I created with friends, I always found myself creating movies. In 2013, I took my first significant step into real filmmaking with The Fallout. It marked the beginning of my journey into the captivating realm of storytelling. The thrill of translating my imagination into tangible narratives was exhilarating, leaving me undeniably hooked.

Yet, the world of filmmaking revealed a broader canvas for artistic expression. At 16, I taught myself the art of Graphic Design. This new skill was more than just a means to an end; it was a gateway to breathe life into my film ideas and craft enticing posters to draw audiences into my imaginative worlds. This skill set helped me create my first marketing campaign, showcasing The Fallout to the world, and later for my films The River Styx Motel and Donald’s Night Out. It also helped me bring to life my clothing brand, Only In Santa Cruz, which thrived in the Santa Cruz community while I was still in high school and allowed me to give back to a local charity, Grind Out Hunger.

Over the past 12 years, I've passionately honed my Graphic Design skills, transforming them into a thriving career. Today, I serve as an in-house Creative Marketing Manager, extending my creative reach to audiences nationwide and across international borders. Since my start in the Marketing field, I have helped multiple companies scale their brand recognition and sales, averaging a 30% increase in revenue year over year.

Alongside my full-time role, I've diligently cultivated my freelance business. This venture has allowed me to extend my creative skillset to assist a diverse range of small businesses and brands in crafting compelling marketing materials and ad campaigns. I have always had a strong bond with small businesses and brands, spending most of my free time as a child roaming the office of my Grandfather’s agricultural company. I believe that strong, engaging graphics can help tell a brand’s story, and that has been my passion from the very beginning.

In the pursuit of meaningful artistry, I've learned that the canvas knows no bounds, and the journey is as profound as the destination. My path as a graphic designer, filmmaker, and artist stands as a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and an unquenchable thirst for creation. Each brushstroke, frame, and design element represents a chapter in the ongoing narrative of my life, and I eagerly anticipate where this artistic odyssey leads next.
